Whale watching is one of the things I have always wanted to do. Being in Newport Beach on a solo trip was my opportunity and Davey’s Locker Whale Watchings was just a hop, skip and a jump away.

One of the issues people are afraid of is going on a boat and getting sea sickness. I have gone deep sea fishing in the past and it was not a good experience. I spent the whole time in the bathroom, puking my guts out! This time I’m going to be prepared and plan to use Dramamine. There are different ways you can use this medicine, the wrist band, pills or patches you place behind the ear.
Applying the patches, I was ready for some adventure at sea with the hopes of seeing some whales!
Starting off in the marina. This is the view from the boat.
It was a bit nippy and the sea choppy. Good thing for the patches, they really work! There’s a bunch of kids on the boat, hunched over the rail, vomiting. Poor kids.
As we went out further into the ocean, dolphins started swimming next to our boat. Something about the waves the boats make that gives them a push that they like.
We’re here for whale watching but still no whales. There are sea lions though and they’re so cute!
Unfortunately, no whales could be found but it’s still an amazing adventure out on the water. Seeing the dolphins up close and the sea lions made it worth it 🙂
