Crystal Cove State Park is one of the places I put on my list for my solo vacation in Orange County, California. I’ve read of it’s beauty, open spaces and it’s natural seashore. It’s located off the Pacific Coast Highway between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach.

The best time to visit Crystal Cove is during low tide to explore tide pools and see little creatures that appear during this time of day. There is also an enclave of forty six federally listed historic vintage coastal cottages originally built as a seaside colony in the 1930’s and 40’s.
I set off at nine in the morning, so excited for my first full day on my solo vacation. Finding this park was pretty easy as there are quite a few signs off of the Pacific Coast Hwy coming from Newport Beach. There’s a lot of parking spaces but you have to pay, which is the norm here in Orange County. Once I parked I put on my walking shoes and started exploring. The view from off the top is breath taking!
To access the beach, you must go down this steep ramp. Going down is much easier than going back up!
I love the beautiful colors of the vegetation here in Crystal Cove, pictures don’t do it justice.
Crystal Cove is secluded. I only encountered maybe 10 other people strolling about the beach.
I walked down the seashore for a bit then came upon the Beachcomber Cafe where I stopped for breakfast
The food was amazing and I discovered a new cocktail that is to die for!
Pimm’s cup is huge. So delicious that drinking it to the last drop is no problem 🙂 It’s made of Pimm’s No 1 Cup, Bombay Sapphire, Lemonade Sparkling Soda, lemon, strawberries, cucumber and orange,
I continued exploring the area
I would have gone up those stairs but Pimm’s Cup…..LOL
I’m sure if I had little children I would go to Crystal Cove during low tide to see what the Tide pools are like. I already made plans to go on a dessert quest during that time.
I headed back up the beach the way I came and slowly made my way back up that steep ramp…Pimm’s Cup 😀
