Best places stay Kauai.
Kauai is wonderful to vacation at but it can be very expensive. I’m going to show you places to stay that you’ll love and still stay within your budget.
Kauai Vacation Rentals
When we decided to honeymoon in Kauai, Hawaii, I did some research first because I’m always trying to save a buck or two.
It seemed just about every travel blogger recommended someplace very expensive like the Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club or Princeville Resort Kauai. While I’m sure these are very nice places to stay at, they just weren’t within our budget.
So I consulted with my best travel friend, Airbnb, and this is what we found:

kauai Aston Islander Beach In Kapaa
(This post contains affiliate links. Please read full disclosure)
The Aston Islander Beach is where we stayed for our honeymoon. It is located in Kapaa which in the East side of Kauai.
The condo we booked is on the third floor, has 5 Star reviews, and the pictures looked very promising with it’s ocean views. The best part was that it was very inexpensive!
To be totally honest with you though, when I first booked the condo, I was a bit skeptical. It just seemed too good to be true. I had the mentality of, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Well, believe it I did!
Here’s a video so you can see for yourself.
Best Area Kauai Stay
Isn’t it awesome?
Nice clean place, with the view of the pool and beautiful blue ocean, right off the lanai!
What more could you ask for?
One of our favorite part is the pool area. There is a Tiki Bar where you sit and buy tropical drinks. Plus, on certain days they have free entertainment. A guy comes over and plays Hawaiian music.
They have lounge chairs galore, plus two tiki huts you can lay in the shade with a big square cushion. There’s one on each side.
Whenever we’d come back from our activities of the day on the island, we would keep an eye for when one is freed up, and run downstairs to go snag it…LOL
They also have an area where you can grill your own food right by the pool.
Nearby Restaurants
There are two restaurants worth noting that are both next door, within a few minutes walk.
Hukilau Lanai Restaurant
Make sure you make reservations as it’s one of the favorites in Kauai.
I believe we got the best seat in the house with a beautiful view.
We shared Ahi Nachos for an appetizer, then split the Trio Fish Catch Of The Day. There was so much food that we couldn’t even eat our half portion each.
Now there’s always room for dessert and we got the Chocolate Lava Cake with Coconut ice cream. So good!
Lava Lava Beach Club
It’s the only place where you can dine with your toes in the sand, sip on Mimosas and enjoy the cool ocean breeze…
We went there for breakfast one morning after a long bike ride, and we were hungry!

Nearby Shopping
You don’t have to go far for shopping, whether you need souvenirs, a bathing suit, shaved ice or fast food (not the franchise kind). All you have to do is walk 3 minutes in front of the condos and you’re there.

Coconut Marketplace Kapaa
This shopping center offers quaint little shops, a grocery store, restaurants, and sometimes they even have entertainment like Hula Dancing.
My favorite part is the Farmers Market, which they have twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can buy fresh tropical fruit which you can never find in the mainland.
These are fruits like mountain apples, soursop, and Lychee, to name a few.
Just remember that whatever you buy, you must consume while on the island as you cannot bring them back to the mainland with you.

Best Area To Stay In Kauai
Now I didn’t just pick this area we stayed in willy-nilly, I have a friend who used to live in Kauai who told me we needed to stay in Kapaa.
It’s central to all and whether we go North or South, we’d have a great starting point for drive time. He was right!
There are many places you can find on airbnb that’s in Kapaa and some of them are very nice, like the one we stayed in. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
If you would like to stay at the Aston Islander Beach then click on the picture below to sign up and get a $40 credit for your first stay.
Then click here, while signed in, to book this vacation rental.
If that one isn’t available, just put Kapaa, Kauai in the search on airbnb and you’ll find some other really nice and affordable places to stay.
